Position Overview
The Human Resource and Admin Officer will manage day-to-day HR operations in the Afar Field Office, ensuring the effective implementation of recruitment, staff development, performance management, and administrative support to deliver high-quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Coordinate the recruitment process for local staff.
- Conduct background checks and reference verifications.
- Prepare appointment letters and employment contracts.
- Facilitate new staff induction and orientation.
HR Management:
- Maintain personnel records and HR databases.
- Act as the primary HR liaison between the Afar field office and the Addis headquarters.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies in handling disciplinary cases.
Administrative Support:
- Assist with travel, accommodation, and logistical arrangements for staff.
- Provide translation services and administrative support as needed.
Safeguarding and Code of Conduct:
- Promote a safe workplace environment by adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Actively support the prevention of harassment, exploitation, and abuse.
Quality Management:
- Ensure timely submission of staff timesheets.
- Maintain an organized and confidential workspace.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Diploma in Human Resources, Management, or related fields.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in HR administration.
- Prior experience with INGOs is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and HR systems.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Effective communication and team-building abilities.
- Culturally aware and adaptable in diverse settings.
- Proficient in English (Amharic is an advantage).
Work Environment
The position is based in Abala, with regular travel to field locations. Candidates should be comfortable working in multicultural environments and basic working conditions.
